A Lack of Knowledge

 

“It’s easy to do, acting like a Christian at church, punching that time clock and leaving the building to begin acting like the rest of the world again.  I know because in my own life I have gone to church and put on a show in the past, singing, “Oh how I love Jesus,’ Looking forward to go home to the promised land - Hell.”  These lines, taken from a sermon in the 70’s, are unarguably harsh.  However, that message was preached not only 40 years ago, but also over 2000 years ago by Jesus when he spoke to the church at Laodicea in Rev 3:15.  Jesus says to choose.  Either continue in evil works or try your absolute best to follow God, but stop being lukewarm.

 Window-dressed religion is along the same lines as being a lukewarm Christian.  It erects a facade of hypocrisy.  Everyone who has read the scriputres for any length of time understands this, but they don’t always recognize that there is HOPE.  If the Bible says something is wrong, you better believe it tells how to fix the error.  There is a reason why these lukewarm behaviors occur.  I suggest there are several symptoms causing these behaviors which all stem from the same problem.  Some people leave the church and step back into a worldly routine because they did not change their behaviors when they put on Christ.  These people were never taught how to change worldly behaviors.  Others have tried their best to act as Christians but continue to make choices which lead them to sinful behaviors and produce guilt and shame.  These Christians constantly repent of their actions but consistently fall prey to the same temptations.  Both groups of sinners have the same problem: a lack of knowledge.  It is just wrapped in different packages.

Jesus knew this and when he saw the great crowds, he had compassion on them (Mark 6:34).  Why did he have compassion?  They were like sheep without a shepherd.  What did he do?  He began to teach them many things.  Two thousand years later, we are called to do the same thing.  The staff at SFT Awareness wants the church to be a place where people come to be healed of their pain and find salvation.  A lack of knowledge about how to remove the emotional pain is a huge hinderance to the spread of the Gospel.  The Bible is full of answers but it makes a difference when people are shown the way.  Come and let us discover together the Bible says about these issues.  Please contact us today!
